The Beatles Invasion 50 Years Later

Every year I have the pleasure of going on the Cruise For Beatles Fans. Music In M’Ocean and Beatle Brunch recently announced that they’ll be taking a break from the yearly cruise to bring us something special in 2014.

Here is the press release my friend Margot sent me..

Newest Hard Rock Hotel (opening December) To Host 50th Anniversary of the Beatles Invasion

The new Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, opening this winter near Cancun, will be the site of its own rock invasion, when rockers and fans alike plan to mark the 50th anniversary of the Beatles invasion, Feb. 5-10, 2014.

Reserve now online to save $100 per person off $1650 for standard room, all-inclusive land package and VIP access to entertainment events.

Organizer Music in M’Ocean previously planned the successful Cruise for Beatles Fans aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and this year, plans a land-based extravaganza honoring 50 years since Beatlemania conquered the world.

Events include “Beatle Brunch Radio” show host Joe Johnson, musical appearances by the Pete Best Band, members of Paul McCartney & Wings Laurence Juber and Denny Seiwell, songwriter Mark Hudson, John Lennon Tribute performer Tim Piper, and Beatles cover group Band On the Run, among others. A celebrity marketplace featuring vendors of Beatles memorabilia is also planned on site.

I heard about this while I was on the cruise last week. I was immediately excited. While the cruises are special for me, I look forward to seeing how trying something different works out. The lineup is a top notch dream team. May Pang and Nancy Lee Andrews are old friends who I haven’t seen in far too long. As a Wings fan I look forward to having Laurence Juber and Denny Seiwell at the same venue. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting LJ on a few different occasions and seeing him perform is always a treat. Meeting Seiwell for the first time will be great. Mark Hudson is hard to describe. He’s someone who you need to experience. He’s a genuine guy whose love for the Beatles oozes through with everything he does. Tim Piper IS John Lennon. He’s also a fun guy to hang out with. I’m glad that Pete Best is bringing his band with him. I saw them play live in Clearwater back in 2006. What a show! The energy was phenomenal. I don’t have any experience or reference for the “Band On The Run” tribute group, but I’ve heard great things about them and look forward to seeing what they have to offer.

Not only will I get to experience all this, but I’ll be able to do it from an all inclusive resort in Cancun. What’s not to love???

I’ll be counting the days until this one. It’s really hard to top the last few cruises, but this has the potential to do it.

New Beginnings

Welcome everyone! What you are seeing here is my attempt at simplifying the website!

I’m Bertone and ever since 2004 I’ve been producing a Beatles show called “Bertone Beatle Bonanza”.

Because it’s the 21st century, every single project someone does has to come with a website. My problem was I always was a bit too ambitious with what I wanted the website to be. I went through a phase where I wanted it to be an encyclopedic resource on the Beatles. At another point I wanted to have daily Beatles news (before Beatles Examiner came along and did it perfectly). I’ve had many ideas that just never got off the ground.

There are many great Beatle sites out there and the key to making this one great is to make it unique and keep it simple.

I’m a guy in his 20’s who is a major Beatles fan, so that’s what this blog will be about. I’ll talk about various things related to Beatles fandom, Beatle books I’ve read and other such stuff. Nice and simple.

I’m a big believer in “show not tell” so I’ll end this introductory post instead of filling it with promises and sneak previews of what’s to come.

Hope you enjoy what’s to come!
